food and wine

The territory of the Castelli Romani has always been one of the favorite destinations for Romans who love good air, enchanting landscapes and of course lots of good wine. Grapevine growing and wine making were already present in Roman times and thanks to the passing down of ancient winemaking practices and traditions and the refinement of the same in modern days, the Castelli Romani acquired its own DOC in 1996. There are numerous cooperative wineries, but small local wineries also survive. There is no shortage of gastronomic specialties such as porchetta from Ariccia, strawberries from Nemi, bread IGP from Genzano and Lariano, peaches from Castel Gandolfo, donuts with grapes must, but you can taste all the dishes of Roman cuisine at the numerous restaurants of the territory with several offers from the simple fraschetta to the refined starred restaurant.
